Now it is possible to integrate up to three different cameras into the AOI system OptiCon BasicLine from GOEPEL electronic. Results are higher fault coverage and improved ease of use. The additional angled view module allows fault detection at hidden or barely visible solder joints, e.g. at QFN, PLCC or exotic component types.
In the past, such a system configuration didn’t allow additional colour inspection tasks or coloured fault display in the repair station software. The opportunity to upgrade the AOI system with three cameras removes these restrictions.
The OptiCon BasicLine’s centre piece is still the one- and four-MegaPixel camera. Because of its excellent image quality of the entire inspection area, the system’s specially developed telecentric lens guarantees minimum debug times during the test program creation as well as very low false rejects. A multicoloured top illumination allows a high-contrast display of coloured polarity markings. In addition, the Quattro illumination with its angle dependent control enables the optimal display of shorts as well as elimination of interfering effects such as solder masks and fluxes. This intelligent illumination concept results in a reduced false call rate during the PCB inspection.
OptiCon BasicLine provides an extremely effective stand-alone tool in the production process. Time and cost savings, as well as an increased quality are cornerstones of competitiveness for assembly houses with, in particular, small and medium volumes – all achievable with the AOI system. www.goepel.com
