SMART Group will be holding a lead-free assembly & soldering workshop on 21 June at SEHO UK in Manchester. Workshop starts at 10.00am with coffee from 9.30am. The event will conclude by 4.00pm.
Do we have all the answers to successful lead-free soldering? No, and to quote a well known soldering metallurgist, "We don't even know all the questions".
Lead-free is new to many process engineers in the industry and there is considerable value in the free exchange of information and experience. This workshop will look at the practical issues associated with wave, reflow and selective soldering and provide and update on LEADOUT. It will also consider the issues of solder paste printing and profiling complex board assemblies. Material selection is very important, consideration will be given to materials and selection for different applications. The day will be split between theory and practical sessions providing and ideal opportunity to have all your questions answered in a single day.
Topics will include:
Stencil Printing Lead-Free Solder Paste
Reflow Soldering Lead-Free Assemblies
Wave Soldering with Lead-Free Alloys and fluxes
Temperature Profiling for Wave and Reflow
Selective Soldering Applications
Monitoring and Control of Flux Application for Wave and Selective
Update on the LEADOUT Project Results
Engineers from Indium, SEHO, Exerra, SolderStar & Heller Industries will be available through out the day to provide advice on process, equipment and materials.
