AIM appoints Andres Rojas to technical marketing engineer
AIM Solder, a leading global manufacturer of solder assembly materials for the electronics industry, announces the appointment of Andres Rojas to the position of Technical Marketing Engineer. Andres will be responsible for promoting technical information and data to the Spanish speaking market including new product introductions, training, technical papers, and trade shows. With over a decade of technical experience, Mr. Rojas possesses the necessary skills and expertise to thrive in his new role as Technical Marketing Engineer. In addition to his vast practical experience, Mr. Rojas is a certified instructor for IPC-A-610, 7711, 7712, and J-Std-001. Mr. Rojas is also an expert in lean manufacturing with a Six Sigma Blackbelt. Andres Rojas’ new title is further assurance of AIM’s global presence as an industry leader in supplying the highest quality technical information to its current and potential customers.
Cemtrex to acquire automotive electronics manufacturer
Cemtrex Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire all the assets of an electronics manufacturing company located in northern Germany (“Target”). The Target is a company focused on electronic manufacturing services primarily for the major German automotive manufacturers, including Tier 1 suppliers in the industry, as well as for industries like telecommunications, industrial goods, luxury consumer products, display technology, and other industrial OEMs. The Target Company’s projected annual revenues for the next twelve months is expected around €30 Million and the Company has an illustrious history in the electronics manufacturing industry extending back decades. From self-driving cars to fully electric vehicles, the automobile industry is undergoing a significant technological disruption and Cemtrex is positioning itself right in the middle of this transition.
Firstronic installs third CX Model Inline Vapor Phase Reflow System
IBL Technologies, LLC announces that Firstronic LLC has installed its third CX Model Inline Vapor Phase Reflow system. “Firstronic is pleased to add another IBL Vapor Phase reflow oven to our plant in Mexico,” said John Sammut, Firstronic’s CEO and President. “This expanded capability is intended to support the capacity required for several new programs that are ramping up in volume production this year. We have had a great experience with the IBL machines and we plan on continuing to invest in this technology.” Firstronic LLC provides advanced electronics manufacturing services and optimized supply chain solutions for companies in a wide range of industries including automotive, industrial and medical device. Firstronic has a 35,000 ft2 facility, state-of-the-art equipment and a seasoned management team with an average tenure of 20 years’ experience. The company also operates a 70,000 ft2 facility in Juarez, Mexico, and supports companies in need of access to global manufacturing locations via operations in China, India and the Czech Republic. Victor Contreras, Firstronic’s Director of Engineering, located in Juarez, states: “The vapor phase process helps reduce voids and is preferred for BGAs. We do double-sided reflow on BGAs, microBGAs and C4 devices. Because of the very low “t, we do not see some of the common problems associated with trying to reflow large boards in a convection oven.” IBL’s CX600/CX800 is a fully automated inline vapor phase soldering solution. It provides precise, high-quality results at medium- to high-volume throughput. The machines feature a standardized SMEMA interface for easy inline integration.
DISCO selects Plasma-Therm as global business partner
DISCO Corporation has signed a global distribution agreement with Plasma-Therm for its plasma dicing technology, the companies announced today. The quality and cost-saving benefits of plasma dicing will now be available to semiconductor manufacturing customers worldwide through DISCO Corp’s global sales and service network. DISCO executive Noboru Yoshinaga said, “DISCO is keenly aware that plasma dicing is a key enabling technology for advanced packaging, and now we can provide complete Kiru, Kezuru, Migaku (dicing, grinding, polishing) solutions to customers. After a careful evaluation, DISCO determined that Plasma- Therm’s technology is the solution of choice, due to its cost of ownership and performance,” he said. DISCO will install a 300 mm Singulator system in its Tokyo facility this year to support customer demonstrations and semiconductor device packaging evaluations.
ApexFA announces Contek Sales as new representatives
Apex Factory Automation (ApexFA) announced the addition of Contek Sales as manufacturers’ representatives for the TX, OK, AR and LA territories. Contek will represent the full line of ApexFA’s products: SJ Innotech printers, Mirae placement, Xavis xray, and Nordson-DIMA prototype equipment.
Contek Sales was founded in 2001 by Fred Alvares. He brought his extensive experience from more than 20 years in various US and International sales positions for a large SMT capital equipment provider to his firm.
Will Crist, National Sales Manager for ApexFA, explained, “Contek is a strategic addition to our sales network. OK International relocates to new headquarters
OK International has moved into its new, state-of-the-art world headquarters in Cypress, CA. OK International, parent company of Metcal, Techcon Systems, Quant 3D and Proworks Software, is the main tenant in the 100,550 ft2 building. “I am extremely pleased with the new OK International headquarters and how quickly we have settled into our new facility,” said Christopher Larocca, President and CEO of OK International. “The extra space will enable us to better serve our customers, improve operational workflow and increase employee productivity.” The new facility has a large demonstration and training space where customers can see Metcal and Techcon products in action and spend time learning how the use the equipment. “I am really looking forward to having customers visit our new facility and our demonstration and training area,” says Bryan Gass, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Our customers will get a first-hand look at the Metcal and Techcon products that will help them become more efficient.”
