Indium Corporation Engineers Earn SMTA Certification 

Indium Corporation is proud to announce that two company technologists have earned their designation as SMTA-Certified Process Engineers. Joining a host of certified Indium Corporation engineers are: Kimberly Flanagan, Technical Support Engineer, Eastern USA and Canada; and David Strabel, Technical Support Engineer, Midwest USA. SMTA Certification is a unique program, sponsored by the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA), which recognizes and certifies competence across the entire SMT assembly process at an engineering level. This certification is one of the electronics assembly industry’s most respected validations of process excellence. Strabel provides expert technical assistance and guidance to Indium Corporation’s current and potential customers to resolve soldering process-related challenges and enable increased levels of performance. Strabel joined Indium Corporation in 2017, and has more than eight years of experience in SMT/PCBA process engineering.

Alpha Assembly Solutions acquires HiTech Korea CO., LTD 

Alpha Assembly Solutions announced their acquisition of HiTech Korea Co., LTD (HiTech), a premier electronics assembly polymer and epoxy-based materials supplier, with its primary operational facility in Korea. “We are excited to announce that HiTech is joining the Alpha family,” said Rick Ertmann, President of Alpha Assembly Solutions, part of the MacDermid Performance Solutions group of businesses. “We believe that HiTech’s talent and resources will augment our expertise to develop new and improved products and capabilities. With this transaction, Alpha is well-situated to capitalize on many emerging trends in the electronics industry. As the lines between the assembly technologies in electronics continues to merge, we see this acquisition as one of many steps that we are taking to position the business for continued success as we work with customers to solve their assembly challenges.” This acquisition is aligned with Alpha and MacDermid Performance Solutions strategic goals and priorities, namely to drive growth through the delivery of innovative, value added solutions and services into the electronics assembly industry. 

Firstronic’s Juarez facility achieves IATF certification 

Firstronic’s, facility in Juarez, Mexico has been certified to the automotive quality standard IATF 16949:2016 and the latest revision of the ISO 9001 quality standard, ISO 9001:2015. The Company will be upgrading its other facilities later this year as part of the normal quality certification audit process. The migration to the latest revision of the medical standard, ISO 13485:2016 will also be completed at all facilities later this year. “I am extremely proud of our team because all three key quality standards, ISO 9001, automotive and medical are simultaneously undergoing major revisions and the changes in these revisions are significant enough to require an extensive review of our procedures in order to efficiently and thoroughly implement them. Long-term, the changes in risk assessment and stakeholder consideration will be good for our industry but short-term this combination creates significant workload for our quality organization.

Performance Chemicals new solder powder facilities 

Inventec Performance Chemicals USA LLC announced the completion of major production and laboratory upgrades to it’s solder powder making plant thanks to the support of the State of CT Department of Economic and Community Development and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology. “Our partnership with the state of Connecticut has been instrumental to our ability to innovate for growth,” says David Reitz, Managing Director and CEO of Inventec Performance Chemicals USA LLC; “The upgrades to our facility has positioned us not only to expand our business with current customers but also to develop next generation products that continue to position us – and our costumers to be market leaders.” The upgraded laboratories feature the latest in particle sizing and chemical analysis. The company’s new particle sizing equipment features state of the art image analysis and electrical resistance measurements. 

Trans-Tec America to resell Aegis’ FactoryLogix Software 

Aegis Software announced that Trans- Tec America will include Aegis Software’s FactoryLogix software solution with their line balancing and optimization solution. Rick McCollough, General Manager, of Trans-Tec America stated, “FactoryLogix provides our customers with the Industry 4.0 Intelligent Factory solutions they require. Starting with superior data preparation and documentation for NPI (New Product Introduction) – this fully integrated solution can also lead to a path to full MES providing component level traceability on YAMAHA IM machinery.” “Aegis is very proud to be a critical part of the software offering via this partnership,” said Jason Spera, CEO of Aegis Software. “Trans-Tec America and Aegis share our mutual customers’ requirements for Industry 4.0.
