6U VME embedded computing boards with Intel Xeon CPUs introduced by Abaco for military applications
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., 13 Jan. 2017. Abaco Systems in Huntsville, Ala., is introducing the XVB603 and XVR19 6U VME single-board computers based on 7th generation Intel Xeon E3-1505M v6 processor for mission-critical deployed defense and aerospace embedded computing applications.
The XVB603 and XVR19 provide upgrades for users of previous XVB and XVR products, bringing enhanced processor performance, enhanced storage, and improved protection against obsolescence. They also are for new program starts.
Both product ranges offer reliability and stability from Intel microprocessors and from Abaco’s new Vivo field-programmable gate array (FPGA)-based VME interface which abstracts these products from potential obsolescence issues, company officials say.
The XVB603 is for air-cooled, front I/O applications in relatively benign industrial or sheltered defense environments. The XVR19, meanwhile, is a rugged offering with rugged air-cooled and conduction-cooled versions for military command and control applications on land, sea and air.
The XVB603 and XVR19 are based on the new 7th generation Intel Xeon E3-1505M v6 processor with integrated graphics, memory controller, and quad-core processing as fast as to 3 GHz. The processor is coupled with the Mobile Intel QM87 Express chipset.
The XVB603 and XVR19 also offer on-board mezzanine expansion sites for enhanced system flexibility. Memory resources include as much as 16 gigabytes of soldered DDR4 SDRAM. Software support includes Deployed Test Software (BIT and BCS) and AXIS, plus operating system support for Windows 10, Open Linux, Wind River Linux, and VxWorks.
