High purity tin from secondary material
With GreenTin+, the experts at Feinhütte Halsbrücke GmbH are offering a tin that is obtained entirely from recycled materials and has a purity level of up to 99.99 %.
The call for sustainable climate protection is becoming louder and louder. With GreenTin+, Feinhütte Halsbrücke GmbH is therefore setting an economic, ecological and humanitarian milestone. The experts are focusing in particular on the reprocessing of process residues that arise in the customer process. Thus, Feinhütte Halsbrücke recycles dross, ashes, runners, sludges, chips or solder pastes back into the value-added process. Using an energy-saving full recycling process, the specialists recover high-purity tin or electrolytically purified alloy in all formats in pyro- and hydrometallurgical plants. “With a purity level of 99.99 %, the tin GreenTin+ obtained with our recycling processes clearly surpasses the quality of imported tin from primary raw materials,” emphasises Tobias Patzig, authorised signatory of Feinhütte Halsbrücke GmbH.
The tin recycled in this way offers several other advantages. For example, independence from international supply chains. In addition, the sustainable recycling of tin not only significantly reduces the energy input. The process reduces exploitation in the mining sector and the processing and smelting of ores to a minimum. CO2 emissions can thus be significantly reduced by up to 98.9% per ton of tin and the general negative impact on the entire ecosystem can be significantly reduced. But humanitarian sustainability is also satisfied with recycled materials. Finally, the mining situation in the tin mines is playing a role for more and more companies.
Unlimited 360 degree circuit
Unlike other raw materials such as paper or plastic, metals can be recycled as often as desired without any loss of quality and can be reused without restriction. Thus, the origin of the material does not necessarily say anything about the purity or quality. The decisive parameters here are rather the type and scope of the reprocessing steps, the know-how brought in and the performance of the aggregates. “We can draw on centuries of experience, modern equipment and optimized manufacturing processes. As a result, the quality of our metals and alloys obtained from a wide range of recycling processes is in no way inferior to that of primary raw materials,” emphasises Patzig.
GreenTin+ is offered as wire, ingot, bar, bulk or similar. The recycled metal, which is significantly above the general market standard in terms of quality, is suitable for the manufacture of extremely high-quality products, such as those required in electronics manufacturing for consumer goods electronics. Moreover, Feinhütte Halsbrücke is the world’s first manufacturer of tin to be able to provide certified proof of the use of 100 % recycled material. “With the ISO 14021 certification, which is required by the customer and has only recently been achieved, we are sending another important signal to the market,” says Patzig.
