“Soft Touch” SMT Switches Feature Miniature Footprint, Extended Life Cycles

Switch manufacturer C&K Components has developed a series of surface-mount, top-actuated tactile switches with a range of actuation forces and extended operating life cycles. The two-terminal and four-terminal styles are housed within the same 6.3 mm x 6.3 mm x 5.0 mm package.

Image source: C&K Components.The KSH series tactile switches are RoHS-compliant, single-pole, single-throw devices with a “soft touch” tactile feel and a range of operating force ratings (1.6 N, 2.0 N, 2.5 N, 3.0 N and 3.5 N) with a travel distance of 1.3 mm. Contacts are rated for 10 µA/50 mA (min./max.) and 2 VDC/12 VDC (min./max.), with an operational life of 200,000 cycles (up to 3.0 N operating force). Operating temperature range is –40° C to 90° C.

C&K positions the KSH series switches as ideal for automotive interiors and audio/video (AV) systems, as well as electronic musical instrument applications.

The KSH series tactile switches are sold in 1,000-piece tape-and-reel packaging.
