Course: Introduction to Hand Soldering
This course is the basic primer for hand soldering learning. Contents include how to use both lead free and leaded solders. Students are introduced to proper workstation practices, personal safety considerations, ESD prevention. Soldering iron types, temperature selection, tip types and applications are introduced. Other topics covered include heat transfer principles, how to avoid thermal damage, flux theory, low residue fluxes, wetting principles. This course will also cover PTH solder joint acceptance requirements as found in the IPC-A-610 standard.
- Knowledge of basic solder techniques
- Demonstrate proper usage of a soldering iron
- Basic understanding of PTH solder joint acceptance
- Demonstrate Safe working practices at a soldering station
Course Time: 37 Minutes
Testing & Certificate:
A Certificate of Completion will be issued to the student upon Completion of the testing requirement of the course. A passing grade of 70% is needed to receive the certificate. The student will be allowed to take the test a total of 3 times to achieve a passing grade.
